Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), a corticotropin with a molecular weight of roughly 4500 Dalton, is a peptide hormone made up of 39 amino acids. In reaction to corticotropin releasing hormone, it is secreted by corticotropes in the adenohypophysis (anterior lobe) of the pituitary gland.
