Calcitonin (CT) is a 32 amino acid peptide hormone which is produced and secreted from the para-follicular C-cells of the thyroid gland. It functions to oppose the action of parathyroid hormone (PTH), this results in helping to regulate bloods phosphate and calcium levels.
