Dengue is a mosquito borne viral infection. It is a single stranded RNA positive virus that belongs to the Flaviviridae (genus Flavivirus). Other member of this family includes West Nile virus, Yellow Fever virus, Tick-borne Encephalitis virus and a number of other viruses which can cause encephalitis.
