Thyroxine (T4) problems in cats can be identified through the following symptoms: polyphagia, polyuria, polydipsia, weight loss, cardiac disease, vomiting and hyperactivity. Usually, all of these symptoms point to hyperthyroidism. Surgery to remove the thyroid gland or thyroid gland ligation to reduce thyroid hormone levels can be used to treat hyperthyroid cats.
