Interleukin 33 (IL-33) is a molecule that acts as a warning signal, for tissue damage and alerts the system. It achieves this by binding to its receptor ST2 (IL1RL1) and the co receptor IL 1 receptor accessory protein (IL 1RAcP) which activates downstream signaling pathways like factor κB (NF κB).
