Influenza B viruses can be divided into two co-circulating lineages (B/Yamagata/16/88-like or B/Victoria/2/87-like viruses), this is based on their antigenic properties on the surface of the glycoprotein hemagglutinin. At present it has only been found to cause human or seal infections.
