Lactoferrin (LF) also called lactotransfеrrin (LTF) is an iron binding protein which belongs to the transferrin family, it is involved in the innate immune system. It mainly resides in specific granules of the polymorph nuclear neutrophil leukocytes (PMN) and can be present during secretions for example in tears, saliva or milk.
