Rat prolactin (rPRL) is a hormone of the anterior pituitary that is a single chained polypeptide having a molecular mass of 23,000. It has two subunits or two chains that are linked by disulfide bonds. These chains are linked together by cysteine residues, creating a non-covalently formed dimer known as the active form.
